Durlas Og 2-04, Eire Og Annacarty 1-06.
Eire Og Annacarty came up a fraction short as 2 first half goals proved decisive in an entertaining County Final held in Boherlahan this Saturday morning.
Cian Ryan had Eire Og off the mark with a pointed free inside the opening minutes. However the lead proved short-lived as Durlas Og got their first goal in the 5th minute. Cian Ryan landed another free 2 minutes later. Both defences excelled as scores proved hard to come by. Eire Og needed to get back in front as they had wind advantage in the opening half, but with 6 minutes remaining disaster struck as Durlas Og snatched a 2nd goal. Daniel Kelly pulled a goal back to leave a goal between the sides, 2-02 to 1-02 at halftime.
With wind advantage, Durlas Og would be expected to push on in the 2nd half. Eire Og had other ideas as Cian Ryan landed a free inside the opening minutes. Darragh O'Brien finished a powerful run with a point which could easily have been a goal 5 minutes later. Alas for Eire Og, it was their only score from play as the forward line struggled to break down a water-tight defence. The sides were finally level with 6 minutes remaining from another Cian Ryan free and extra-time looked likely. However Durlas Og regained the lead through a pointed free with 3 minutes left. It proved a step too far for Eire Og as Durlas Og held on to emerge winners, 2-04 to 1-06.
Eire Og never gave up trying and battled gamely to the end. Michael Furlong, Darragh O'Brien, Daniel Kelly, Adam O'Dwyer and top scorer Cian Ryan featured prominently.
