Kickhams 5-08, Eire Og Annacarty 0-09.
Kickhams' ability to take their goal chances decided this local derby against neighbours Eire Og Annacarty in a lively encounter in Annacarty on Sunday morning.
The visitors were quick off the blocks scoring 1-04 inside the first quarter before Aidan Griffin opened Eire Og's account with a pointed free. Kickhams had their 2nd goal soon afterwards before Eire Og responded with a hat-trick of Connie Bradshaw points as half-time approached. A goal would thrown the game wide open, however when it did come it was the visitors that got it right on half-time to leave the score 3-04 to 0-04 in Kickhams' favour. A disappointing aspect was the loud-mouthed behavior of certain supporters from both sides during the opening half.
After both sides exchanged a brace of points each at the beginning of the 2nd half, Eire Og had further points from Paul Devlin and David Fox to leave 7 between the sides with 20 minutes remaining. Kickhams had other ideas and they landed their 4th goal on 47 minutes to effectively kill off the game as a contest. Eire Og battled gamely away until the end but only managed an Aidan Griffin point to the scoreboard as Kickhams finished with a flourish scoring their 5th and final goal with 8 minutes left to run out comfortable winners 5-08 to 0-09 at Padraig Skeffington's full-time whistle. Best for Eire Og were David Fox, Eoghan Loughman, Stephen O'Brien, Paul & Conor Devlin, Aidan Griffin and Connie Bradshaw.
