Eire Og Annacarty 0-17, Killenaule 0-13.
Eire Og maintained their unbeaten run by edging out Killenaule in a hard fought game in Boherlahan on Sunday evening. This victory ensures Eire Og progress to the knock-out stages of the Dan Breen Cup along with Kilruane McDonaghs who defeated Thurles Sarsfields early in the day. Both Eire Og and Kilruane meet next weekend to decide which team will finish group 3 winners, while Killenaule and Thurles Sarsfields battle to stage in the Dan Breen Cup for 2020.
Eoin Barry had the opening score in the 2nd minute with a point from play, which was quickly answered by a brace of Seanie Ryan points before the 6th minute. With the elements behind them Eire Og gradually got on top wth further points from Connie Bradshaw(2), Conor O'Brien and a brace of Aidan Griffin frees by the first quarter mark. John "Bubbles" O'Dwyer had Killenaule's 2nd point from a free followed by another pointed free either side of Tom Fox's opening point by the 20th minute. Daragh Mooney made a vital save, scrambling off the line before further points by Connie Bradshaw, Aidan Griffn and Tom Fox stretched the lead to 8 with 5 minutes to the interval. Points from Thomas Keaveney and a sideline cut from John "Bubbles" O'Dwyer closed out the first half scoring to leave the score 0-11 to 0-05 in favour of the West Tipperary side.
Following their exit from the South Championship during the week, Killenaule's season now depended on the 2nd half with the backing of the steady breeze. John "Bubbles" O'Dwyer opened the scoring with a pointed free in the first attack. Eire Og hit back with points from first half sub Dinny Crosse, who replaced the injured Eoin Bradshaw, and Connie Bradshaw. John "Bubbles" O'Dwyer landed another pointed free and one from play followed by another pointed free from Eoin Barry to leave 4 in it by the 43rd minute. Dinny Crosse had another point for Eire Og to which Killenaule hit with a hat-trick of frees, 2 from Eoin Barry and another from John "Bubbles" O'Dwyer to leave 2 between the teams with 10 minutes remaining. A mini flare-up on the touchline seemed to break the Killenaule momentum as Eire Og extended their lead through a brace of pointed frees from Aidan Griffin and another from super-sub Dinny Crosse to leave 5 in it as time ticked away. Eoin Barry landed another free as the South side tried to save their season in the closing stages. They needed goals now and John "Bubbles" O'Dwyer had 2 oppertunities: One from play which hit the post and another from a close-in free that was saved by Daragh Mooney and his fellow defenders to ensure Eire Og Annacarty advance to the knock-out stages of the Dan Breen Cup on a four-point victory, 0-17 to 0-13 at Peter Carroll's full-time whistle. Killenaule now have only Thurles Sarsfields left to face to avoid the drop to the Seamus O'Riain Cup while Eire Og face Kilruane McDonaghs for the right to qualify as group winners.
