Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams 5-14, Eire Og Annacarty\Galtee Rovers 3-6.
Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams proved too strong for an understrength Eire Og\Galtee combo side in this Minor Football encounter in Dundrum last Wednesday, even though they played the entire second half with 14 men. The combo now has a fight on their hands to stay in the competition with only Rockwell\Rosegreen left to play.
The home team started brightly in the opening ten minutes to lead by five before Eamon Quirke dragged the combo back into the game with 1-1 in the space of three minutes. Kickhams soon established control with a string of points in the second quarter following their second goal before the water break, while Eamon Quirke had the combo's only score with a pointed free to leave the half-time score 2-07 to 1-02 in Kickhams' favour. Kickhams were reduced to 14 men on the half-time whistle after one of their forwards got his marching orders.
Kickhams began the second half brightly with an early goal inside four minutes, only for Eire Og\Galtee to drag themselves back into the game thanks to Eamon Quirke bagging his second goal and another point, plus a point from Robert Moloney to leave six between the sides. The home side had other ideas and landed a string of points to kill off any notion of a comeback. A brace of quick goals with ten minutes remaining ended it as a contest. Fionn Kelly landed a point before Daniel O'Dwyer goaled from a penalty for the combo after Callum McCarthy was hauled down, but it was a mere consolation as Kickhams emerged winners 5-14 to 3-06 at Paul Carew's full-time whistle.
Some of Eire Og\Galtee's leading performers were Sean Gubbins, Adam O'Dwyer, Fionn Kelly, Robert Moloney and top scorer Eamon Quirke.
